1. I get to see my transmog. Transmog is the coolest thing to happen to WoW in years, and it's a bit disappointing to spend all this time making a set for my druid only to hide it under a furry coat.

3. Roll. It just looks so fun.
4. I like Kung Fu movies. I think that's pretty self-explanatory.
5. I get to be a brewmaster; specializing in making beer! I don't really drink much alcohol, but I sometimes homebrew with my dad and it's the best delayed satisfaction activity out there. You start out with a giant pot and add grains and sugary stuff and yeast and it tastes like sugary grain water. Then you wait for a few weeks and it doesn't taste sweet any more and you can bottle it. Then you wait some more. And then it's done and you can give it to friends and impress them!

6. Lady pandas are adorable and only get more adorable the more I look at them. And they have tails. I know it's totally a fan service tail and it doesn't make sense that only red lady pandas have them, but I want it nonetheless.
That's not to say I'm lacking excitement for bears in MoP. Things like typhoon and Ursol's Vortex make it very exciting. But all those reasons I listed above about monks sure are tempting. I will probably write a companion list of reasons I want to stay druid in the next few days.
#1 is why my Druid is Balance/Resto these days (and Astral Form was the FIRST THING I tested on the Beta...). Definitely going to be making a Monk, but still stuck on whether I want to heal or tank, and on Alliance or Horde. Won't be a Druid replacement...more of a supplement? :P
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in agreement on homebrewing. My dad and I (both independently and jointly) have been homebrewing for almost a year now and it's a lot of fun to spend a month+ on what is basically a biochem project with a nice payoff. We do ours all indoor though - are you doing batches larger than 5 gallons?
ReplyDeleteI hope they do some research on brewing and incorporate it into items and things. Some references to hop variety names, brewing terms like wort/mash/sparge/etc, beer style names, etc. I'll be disappointed if the beer culture for monks is basically just "yay, beer!" like it mostly is for dwarves.
You also... still get to stay a bear, since pandas are bears! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think we go bigger than 5 gallons, though I'm horrible at judging volume and I can't remember for sure. We always do it outside because my mom doesn't want it to stink up the house. It doesn't hurt that the little outdoor burner my dad has heats up water much quicker than a conventional stove, either.
ReplyDeleteI'd be kinda surprised if Blizzard incorporated real brewing terms; at least I haven't seen anything to that effect yet. Though there is a brewery instance, right? Maybe we'll fight wort monsters there!
These are all reasons I'm struggling with staying faithful to my Druid. Since vanilla I have always been true to the Druid, no matter how bad things were. Especially with the Account wide pets, achievements and possible mounts - so I wonder how I will feel once release day comes. Thing is, I will likely hate myself if I do switch to Monk...
ReplyDeleteI too am going to try out a Pandaren Monk and see if it's a good fit for a main in Mists, for many of the same reasons you listed here, Sunnier. It will be interesting to see what comes of the class. :)

ReplyDeleteIt makes sense in that context, except that red pandas and giant pandas are only very distantly related and it's not logical for a single, unified species of animals to magically grow a tail depending on the fur color. That's why I call it a fan service. Blizzard did it because it's cool and people would like it, not because it makes any sense.
