I was on the latest Team Wafflecast with several talented bear druids. We answer bear-related questions about the current state of the spec, speculate about bears in Mists of Pandaria, and other things.
I pretty much just sit in a corner and answer questions when Arielle makes me, because I'm very shy. D: There were three hardcore 25man tanks so I felt a little lonely, but I learned that 25 man requires many more tanks than 10 man. Three tanks on heroic Spine?! And other things!
Anyways, enjoy!

Gratz for clearing this hc content.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of questions.
1. Does the attack prock of Vial of Shadows have the chance of proccing a savage defense shield?
2. Are the Impales of Madness of Deathwin in HC mitigated by armor?
Thanks.
1. No, Vial of Shadows does not proc extra SD shields (same as fury swipes). It is, however, really good dps for bears if for some reason you need to up your tank dps.
ReplyDelete2. Impales are mitigated by armor. This is one reason why bears are such good tanks for this fight.
Um. If Impale was mitigated by armor, we wouldn't need to CD it to survive, even on normal.
ReplyDeleteIt is affected by Demo and SD though.
I guess that explains why I could never seem to calculate the correct mitigation number, though it doesn't explain why I took so much less damage from it than the paladin. Unless it can't be blocked, only SD absorbed? I didn't think of that.
ReplyDeletePS Since when does Arielle read my comments?
love ur drawings on the right!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys for the info. Could anybody get any log from Madness normal or heroic to try to get that clarification? Sorry for asking this, but currently can't raid in bear spec (moonkin lame).
ReplyDeleteI have heard druid stacking expertise to 52 so that attacks can not be parried, this is for a hybrid tank of course to not only increase survivability but also dps is it viable to do so even if reforging mastery to reach that cap?
ReplyDeletehey was wondering about Kiril, Fury of Beasts 403 vs Spire of Coagulated Globules 410 this is for a mastery/hybrid bear which is better
ReplyDeleteSince parries no longer cause the parry-hasting effect, there's no survival benefit to expertise beyond increasing your chance for SD to proc. After 26 expertise (enough to prevent dodges), the value of expertise is pretty much the same as hit, so its survival value is low and it's much better to go into dodge, mastery, or even crit at this point. Don't bother with the hard cap.
ReplyDeleteIf you're trying to max your tank dps, then it's the same deal where it's equal value to hit, which makes it a pretty good dps stat. I'd still not try to reach for it, since anything beyond the soft cap is no good for cats (assuming you're behind the boss). As a hybrid tank, you should stick to mastery and crit.
Spire of Coagulated Globules 410 is better for dps than Kiril 403 because of the higher weapon damage. Fury of Beasts is technically better for tank survival, though I'd still use Spire for tanking because it's very close and personally I'd prefer the simplicity of a single weapon between both specs and bigger numbers. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt look like that this was pretty useful :P
